Our Disaster Relief Initiatives
Barpeta, one of the most flood-prone districts of Assam, faces recurring devastation due to its proximity to the Manas, Beki, Pahumara, and Kaldia rivers and their tributaries. The Rupshi and Mandia blocks specifically are severely affected by multiple floods each year, primarily due to the rising water levels of the Beki River. Large areas of land were submerged, causing extensive damage to agriculture, livestock, and homes, leaving many families displaced.
In response, the AMAN Foundation, in collaboration with GOONJ, FST, and NERCRC, provides immediate relief to affected individuals. Our support includes:
- Ration kits for food security
- Tarpaulins for temporary shelter
- Medicines and healthcare assistance to prevent disease outbreaks
In the previous year's floods, we were able to provide immediate relief to almost 3,000 individuals in the district.
Through coordinated efforts, we continue to support vulnerable communities, ensuring timely disaster relief and long-term resilience-building in flood-affected regions.
